Elaine Kim is a Sydney-based art curator whose practice is informed by her background as both an artist and her Korean–Australian heritage.She holds a Master of Curating and Cultural Leadership from the University of New South Wales, where she also completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours). She is currently studying a Juris Doctor at UNSW Law School, exploring new possibilities at the intersection of art and law.Since 2021, Elaine has curated numerous exhibitions, including The Third Space, Ceramics and Emotions, Blue Surpasses Dimension, Ceramic Stories [Digital Connections], In Bloom, Harmonie, and The Craft of Identity, among others. In 2022, she received the Kudos Emerging Curator Award. Her recent curatorial projects, including The Glass Narrative and Between Me and Nature, have been met with widespread acclaim.As a curator, Elaine champions exhibitions that highlight both emerging and established Australian artists, contributing to the vibrancy and diversity of the art scene. Since 2025, she has also served on the Board of Ausglass, actively supporting the contemporary glass community.Elaine is an emerging writer as well, with a growing presence in both Australia and Korea. Her writing has been recognised for its originality and insight, and, informed by her bicultural heritage, her curatorial and literary work engage deeply with both Korean and Australian cultural narratives.As an artist, she was Highly Commended in the 2020 Jenny Birt Award and was a finalist for both the Shelly Simpson Prize and the Gosford Art Prize in 2021.In her dual roles as curator and artist, Elaine acts as a cultural bridge—connecting traditions, challenging conventions, and fostering new dialogues. Her projects invite audiences to view art through a multifaceted lens, offering fresh perspectives in an ever-evolving world.
