There are a few changes this year to the usual conference processes. Carry on reading to make sure you’re ticking all the boxes before you arrive in Poatina!
Remember to fill out this form after purchasing your tickets!
An early bird discount applies if you register before 24th November 2024.
New members will receive a complimentary year of Ausglass membership at half price.
As you may have picked up on, registration is a two-step process this year:
Step 1: Purchase your Conference Ticket
Step 2: Fill in the Transport, Accommodation and Catering Form
As well as helping our organising team prepare, this form will also allow you to book airport transfers, Poatina accommodation (including breakfasts), or the daily shuttle bus to/from Launceston (if staying elsewhere), and to indicate if you have any special diet needs. It will also allow you to pre-book dinner on Thursday 13th Feb if required.
Even if you’re taking care of all these things for yourself, please jump on the form and let us know, to assist us with our planning.
The conference starts at 9am on Friday 14th February, so please plan to arrive the day before on Thursday 13th February 2025.
The conference ends after the closing party and auction, late on Sunday 16th February, so please plan to depart the day after on Monday 17th February 2025.
ALL meals (lunch, dinner, morning tea and afternoon tea each day) are included in the registration fee for this conference. Breakfasts are also included for those who choose to stay in Poatina accommodation. The charm of Poatina is that it is in a remote and beautiful location, however alternative meal venues are scarce so we have made sure you are well fed throughout the conference.
Poatina is a small village 45 minutes drive from the Launceston CBD and 40 minutes drive from Launceston airport. The two nearest rural towns are Cressy (15 minutes) and Longford (25 minutes), both on the route from Launceston. Hobart is approximately 2 hours drive away.
Fly into Launceston Airport or bring your vehicle on the Spirit of Tasmania ferry.
Hire cars are available at Launceston Airport if you want some independence.
There is no public transport to Poatina, however a conference airport transfer service will be available from/to Launceston Airport. It is essential that you book your place on this service when filling in the Transport, Accommodation and Catering Form.
The airport transfer bus can also be booked to pick up / drop off at the coach stop in Perth (TAS) if travelling by bus from Hobart.
We understand if you need to arrive later or leave earlier to suit available flights - you may miss some of the conference but we’ll make sure you get to/from your flight if we have the details.
We strongly suggest you book your travel early to avoid disappointment or excessive fares. Space on the Spirit of Tasmania ferry is limited due to delays with the new ferries and terminal. If your desired ferry fare is not available online it is possible to call and ask to be put on the waitlist, which can often prove worthwhile.
You can stay on site at the conference venue in Poatina, or you can arrange your own accommodation elsewhere. Poatina offers accommodation options for all budgets including motel, cottage and basic hostel rooms, as well as camping and space for motorhomes.
If staying outside Poatina, we recommend Cressy, Longford or Launceston.
A daily shuttle bus will be available to bring delegates from Launceston to Poatina each day (via Longford and Cressy) and return each evening. There will be limited bus stops so please book your accommodation within walking distance of these pick up points if you wish to make use of this service. (A link to a map will be added here soon).
We will need a small group of Volunteers to assist at the conference. People with RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification and Light Rigid vehicle licences are especially needed although there are jobs for all skills and interests.
In return for your service to the glass community, we can offer a discounted registration ticket. Minimum Volunteer hours apply.
If you are interested in volunteering at the 2025 Conference, please contact vicepresident@ausglass.org.
If your business or studio is interested in having a trade stall at the 2025 Conference, please contact vicepresident@ausglass.org for the registration form.
Stay tuned for more information about workshops in the coming weeks!
