Glass Is Glue: Tom Moore

A$1,500.00

18-21 February 2025 @ Poatina Arts Centre, Glass Studio

Students will be guided through processes for developing and working to design drawings; stretching glass from the furnace into patterned rods; reheating and forming these into small parts in the lampworking studio; reheating and joining these onto larger forms back in the hot-shop. Students will work together to assist Tom with the demonstrations, in pairs to assist each other at the furnace and individually for drawing and lampworking. It will be fun.

Some hot glass experience is required.

Capacity is limited, so get in quick!

Accommodation package available through Ausglass transport, accommodation and catering form or contact help.ausglassconf@poatinaarts.org.au if you have already completed the above form and need to make adjustments to allow for the workshop.

About the artist

Tom combines furnace and torch-work to create finely detailed, fanciful characters such as the PotatoFishCar. These peculiar representations of nature, mediated by glass, are intended to provoke questions about human relationships with plants, animals, and machines. Tom is based in Adelaide, South Australia. His time is divided between working within the hot glass community at JamFactory, working from his own home studio and as an adjunct research fellow at UniSA.
