Sabbia mentorship & Exhibition Award
This award has been an important opportunity offered through the generosity of the Directors of Sabbia Gallery in conjunction with Ausglass conferences through the past 15 years.
Sabbia Gallery is arguably Sydney's premier commercial gallery, specialising in the exhibition and representation of Australia’s and New Zealand's foremost contemporary studio glass, ceramic and fibre artists. The gallery's calendar of exhibitions for 2023 demonstrates its pre-emminance in these areas.
The award is selected by Sabbia Gallery Director, Anna Grigson, from amongst the works exhibited at the conference exhibition by an artist who is either ‘emerging’ (five years or less of professional experience), or at student level, who demonstrates a devotion to contemporary studio glass and displays innovation in their work.
The winner of the Sabbia Mentorship and Exhibition Award has the opportunity to participate in a solo exhibition at Sabbia Gallery in Sydney. The Award includes a mentoring program with curatorial staff, who will work with and support the recipient in the lead-up to their exhibition.
The winner of this year’s Sabbia Mentorship and Exhibition Award, announced at the close of the ‘Futures Past’ Ausglass confernce on Sunday, 5 February, 2023, is Rita Kellaway.
